My Testimony of Faith

While fasting was the tool that cleansed my body of toxicity, it was faith, prayer, and surrendering my life to God completely, that restored my heart and mind, strengthened me, and gave me new life.

Isaiah 48:10: Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction

My testimony is quite literally one of resurrection. Of miracle healing. And of God’s steadfast goodness and love.

Not too dissimilar to the woman who bled for years before reaching for Jesus’ garment, I lived with what I call compounding chronic illness. It progressed over about 15 years, becoming more and more debilitating, until I was completely bedbound. It began with endometriosis as a teenager, which was dismissed by medical professionals as a kind of modern hysteria. Then came Lyme disease, with menacing co-infections, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, auto-immunity, Mast Cell activation syndrome, Brain damage, and severe PTSD from the sense of being trapped in my body, in constant, excruciating, unescapable pain.

I was living in a monastery type place, seeking God through a distorted philosophy of teachings, and a teacher who lived to consider himself a modern day jesus. Desperate for healing. Desperate for truth.

Jeremiah 29:13 says “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart". I was praying, begging, seeking with all my heart, and He responded. He began to enter healing meditations, His loving presence beside me, and placed His hands on the places that were hurting, in a way that was so tangible it moved me to tears.

I began to read the Bible again, but this time with new eyes that could see, and ears that could hear. And the Holy Spirit began giving me revelation after revelation — of who Christ is, of His Kingdom, that lives within us, and of the Father who loves us. He continued to reveal Himself to me — until I had no doubt that He is the Truth, the Life, and the Way.

Still, treatment after treatment failed.

I lived in constant, full-body pain. Unbearable nausea, like the world was always spinning. I needed aid to walk, and even to think, I was going blind in the sunlight. I became so weak I felt like I was fading into nothing. To the point where the veil between worlds became very thin — and heaven felt like something I could drift back and dissolve into.

But that’s a somewhat mystical story for another time.

It was during my second 30-day water fast that my body was finally given the rest it needed to heal. But it wasn’t the fasting alone. It was prayer, faith, and surrender.

Surrendering my life fully to Christ.
Letting go of the outcome.
Letting go of my attachment even to life itself, knowing the beauty and unimaginable peace that lay beyond.

And in that surrender, God entered in a new way.

His presence moved through me. It brought light into the places where illness had been held. Light to the shadows and traumas of my past. And He restored me.

Completely. To where today, I stand here completely healed, and disease free. Both figuratively and literally, I was blind and now I see.

Corinthians 3:16 says Surely you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s spirit lives in you! The enemy may be the prince of this world, and dictate through suffering and pain, but Christ is King, and His kingdom is one of everlasting peace.
